Sign Structures Research: University of California at San Diego

In response to unexplained structural failures involving single-pole, high-rise signs in various locations throughout the U.S., the International Sign Association (ISA), in cooperation with the University of California (San Diego) Jacobs School of Engineering, conducted an initial analysis in 2008 and subsequent structural testing which is detailed in a 2011 research report. The purpose of this research was first to identify the root cause of these structural failures and then to investigate various potential measures for their mitigation.
